VDST / CMAS NITROX Specialty

Nitrox SpecialtyWith SUBEX all dives are done using SUBEX air28 - a slightly enriched nitrox mix, not requiring a special Nitrox certification or course.

This is based on the fact that with air28 your diving computer can remain set to 21% oxygen without additional limitations. This way SUBEX divers experience enhanced safety while still being able to dive up to the 40m limit for recreational diving. Your bottom time does not increase using air28.

If you would like to use a NITROX mix with 32% or 36% oxygen to increase your bottom time and minimize the risk of a nitrogen narcosis, you should learn how to do that in a safe and healthy fashion and aquire the appropriate certification.

BECOME A NITROX DIVER WITH SUBEX AND ENJOY THE BENEFITS OF OXYGEN ENRICHED AIR DURING YOUR DIVES!

Course aims

  • This course teaches you how to analyze a NITROX mix, plan your dive considering the different limits for bottom time and depth, no decompression dive time and the maximum depth values using different NITROX gases.
  • To enable you to plan, commit and finish your dives properly we will discuss the respiratory minute volume (RMV), we will calculate the air consumption and define the minimum reserve, max depth and bottom time.

Course contents

  • 2 diving lessons with Nitrox 1 and Nitrox 2.
  • 5 theory lessons during  briefing and debriefing: Introduction to diving with NITROX, physics and physiology, special equipment for NITROX diving, logistics of gases and planning of NITROX dives.
