A Day That Changed Perspectives – Blue Oceans Clean-up Day at SUBEX Sharm El Sheikh
We are proud to announce that SUBEX Sharm El Sheikh has once again been recognised as an SSI Blue Oceans Dive Center — a reflection of our ongoing commitment to protecting the Red Sea and raising awareness for the underwater world we are so passionate about.
To celebrate this special recognition, we organized our Blue Oceans Clean-up Day together with 20 divers and ocean lovers at our house reef in Sharm El Sheikh.
Supported by SSI Regional Manager Teo Brambilla, who introduced our guests to the Blue Oceans initiative, the event quickly became much more than a simple clean-up dive. Together with our instructor Anita, who gave inspiring presentations about coral reefs, marine ecology and our Turtle Watch Egypt project, the day created meaningful conversations and a deeper connection to the Ocean.
During the dives, our participants collected around 70 kg of marine debris, mainly plastic waste and fishing lines. But beyond the numbers, the true impact of the day was the awareness it created.
Many guests shared afterwards that they started looking at the reef and marine life with completely different eyes — understanding not only its beauty, but also the importance of protecting it.
A special thank you goes to Maritim Jolie Ville Resort & Casino for supporting the event with fruits, snacks and refreshments during the surface interval and helping to create such a welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved.
Events like these remind us that protecting the ocean starts with connection, awareness and community.
And sometimes, all it takes is one dive to change perspectives.
